4 People Shot, 1 Dead at Beech Grove Park

One person was killed and three others were injured in a Sunday night shooting at a park in Beech Grove.
The shooting happened at Don Challis Park as people were gathered for a vigil for a person who had recently died. Police were contacted around 9:30 p.m, on reports of shots fired.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found four people had been shot.
According to the deputy chief of the Beech Grove Police Department, Tom Hurrle, one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other three involved were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
As of so far, no arrests have been made. Police said they’re looking for two to three men suspected of taking part in the shooting left in a white Toyota Camry.

Hurrle said the shooting marks Beech Grove’s first homicide of the year and called the incident “atypical for the community”.
Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley said there will be a peace walk Saturday, July 30, at the city park.
“We’re tired of this. We’re tired of the violence. Stop,” said Buckley.
