Classical Music Indy Saying Farewell to Radio Host Michael Toulouse

WICR thanks Michael Toulouse for his many years of service as the Program Director and award-winning host for Classical Music Indy’s morning programming on our primary signal and for WICR-HD 2’s local classical music as well.  Michael started off in Indianapolis as Classical Music Director for WFYI from May of 2002 to 2008.  In 2008 he became the Program Director for Classical Music Indy and has hosted WICR’s local classical music from then until he retires from Classical Music Indy on Friday, August 9, 2024.  He has helped us out during fund drives—answered questions about program selections and provided excellent programming for the Indianapolis area for more than 22 years, almost 16 of those with us. He has also been our voice of the Saturday edition of the University of Indianapolis Faculty Artist Series, and you have heard him co-hosting live broadcasts of the Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.  It has been my pleasure working with Michael in the nine years I have been the Program Director for WICR and Michael will be missed by us all!

As Michael leaves for semi-retirement, we would like to welcome John Nasukaluk Clare as the new Host and Producer of Classical Music Indy’s Anytime Classical service. John has extensive experience in classical music—as a violinist and as a current host of Sirius satellite radio’s Symphony Hall broadcast—and

has been announcing for them since 2018. He has also worked as Music Director for WGUC—Cincinnati’s classical music NPR station and was the CEO and General Manager of Classic 107.3 FM in St. Louis. He is also an award-winning announcer—winning the Deems Taylor Award from ASCAP for radio Broadcasting in 2005.  He has worked in Indiana as the Music Director of WBAA in Lafayette, Indiana.

John is a veteran announcer, producer, and programmer and we welcome him to WICR as the new host of our Classical Music Indy Anytime Classical broadcasts.
