According to the Indiana Department of Education’s website, there are over 2,300 open teaching positions across the state.
Nearly 900 open student support positions, including bus drivers, lunch ladies, and classroom helpers, are also available.
The Indiana State Teachers Association is urging lawmakers to take additional action next year to enhance pay and working conditions for teachers.
A new Indiana law seeks to assist in filling some vacant positions by enabling schools to issue adjunct teaching permits.
