An Indianapolis “peacemaker” was shot and killed at a gas station Saturday night.
John “JB” Barnett was shot after 10 p.m. at the Phillips 66 gas station located on 34th Street and Keystone Avenue, according to city police.
Barnett was one of several community outreach workers hired by the city to reduce violence.
The Office of Public Health and Safety described Barnett as a “comedian who could make anyone laugh and, most importantly, was overflowing with joy”.
Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana or the IMPD homicide unit.
