WICR will broadcast the last episode of JourneysFire with Richard Brendan on Sunday, June 26th. Since the first program debuted on April 2, 2002, an estimated 650 programs have been created.
Brendan said he hoped his show inspired his listeners toward new ways of thinking and living.
“It has been an honor to be associated with WICR for more than 20 years. I have enjoyed every moment,” Brendan said. “I’ve especially enjoyed working with so many great students, even developing friendships with some of them.”
The show featured notable guests including Maya Angelou, Stephen Covey, Judy Collins, Janis Ian, Patch Adams and Betty Williams.
“Richard will be missed by our students, staff, and listeners. It’s not going to be easy to replace an original, locally-produced show after a 20-year run that built a loyal following,” General Manager Scott Uecker said. “I especially appreciate the way he treated our students with respect and professionalism over the years. We wish him the best in his next act.”
